Fertilizers
Fertilizers are definately beneficial to plant growth but, they must be used with extreme caution. Misuse will result in unwanted effects such as dead plants, algae blooms, or no results at all. We use no added fertilizers for the simple fact that they are expensive and easily misused. Our recommendation is to use substrate that has a large natural level of nutrients (See substrate). Fish waste is a great fertilizer and will accumulate in the substrate. Not cleaning the gravel with a siphon will ensure a healthy planted aquarium and an endless supply of natural nutrients. My only advice for using commercial fertilizers is to read and follow directions carefully.
